HEALTH ENHANCEMENT - RY

The rules and requirements for this class are designed so that all students can have a safe and enjoyable learning experience in Sophomore Health Enhancement.  Please contact me if there are any questions or concerns.

GENERAL ACTIVITY INFORMATION
All students need to have comfortable work out attire - shorts, t-shirts, sweats, etc.
Students are also required to have acceptable court shoes designed for strenuous movement.  Sandals and boots are not allowed.
Locks will be provided for PE locker.  Students need to keep possessions locked at all times.  
Students must remain in locker room area following class - wait for the bell, if you leave early or without permission you will be counted absent.
NO HORSEPLAY - students need to display appropriate behavior in class, hallways, and in locker rooms.
Treat equipment and facilities with care and respect, any damage which is not inherent to the activity, may become the responsibility of the student.
No hats in class except for outdoor activities.
No food or drinks in gym area please.
Stay off bleachers at all times.

GRADING POLICY

PE is worth 50% of total grade for each quarter.
Health is worth 50% of total grade for each quarter.
PE is graded on points - 4 per day (dressed out, effort, positive attitude, warm up)
Any display or poor attitude, sportsmanship, or effort will result in point loss.
Unexcused tardiness will equal -2 points for that day.
Students receive 2 points when absent unless the absence is school related.
If student is not dressed out they receive 2 points for that day.
If student does not wear appropriate shoes they will be counted as not dressed out
Health grade will include assignments, projects, packets, tests, class discussion participation.
All health work must be completed and turned in on time.   

MAKE-UP POLICY

Students will be able to make-up excused absences and medical absences.
Non-dress days and school suspensions cannot be made up
Students may attend lunchtime open gym or weight training to make up class absence. (Supervisor must verify attendance)
Students may attend another section of health enhancement during a study hall to make up class absence. (Get permission first & supervisor must verify attendance)
Students may attend after school weight training to make up class absence. (Supervisor must verify attendance)
Other athletic / recreational / fitness activities may apply as well.  Check with instructor for information.  Other activities must be verified.

DRESS OUT POLICY

Students need to dress out for activity days.  Substantial point loss will occur if student fails to dress out for the majority of the activity days.  
    

MEDICAL EXCUSE

Any student who is unable to participate in class due to extended illness or injury must obtain a note from his/her physician.  
If the injury or illness is long term, the student may be able to arrange a medical waiver from PE.
If a student has a note or medical excuse they must first dress out, and then take the note to the school nurse who will evaluate the situation.

OUTSIDE GUIDELINES

Students will walk to Toole Park for outdoor activities.  
Students need to stay on sidewalks on west side of Gerald Street, and use caution when crossing intersections.  Please move quickly across intersections.
Students are not allowed to be in or near the river while at the field.
